This always happens to me...because some people accidentally called me (doesn't help that I could be at the top of their contact list) and they can leave a 2 min long msg! I have to sit and let it play the whole thing before I can delete...I've tried everything...you cannot delete in between...interrupting it will just force you to have to listen to it from the beginning.
